The following describes the typical workflow of a basic DSR flight:
- The Pilot In Command (PIC) prepares the drone: Ensure the drone, controller, and tablet are fully charged. Power on the drone, controller, and tablet.
- PIC logs in to the flight control app and selects Remote Operation Mode from the Mission Selector.
- In the Remote Operations Center (ROC), the Remote Operator (RO) selects the drone.
- RO requests control of the drone by clicking Request Control from the dialog that appears in the lower left.
A dialog appears that provides a summary of the current request, along with drone status, a weather summary, the option to stream to Ops Hub, and an option to fly to the destination immediately after takeoff:
For drones that do not have a GPS lock, you can opt to fly them in Tactical Mode by clicking the three dots to the right of the drone entry and selecting Request Control. - The PIC grants control of the drone to the RO from the mobile app.
- The RO can fly either autonomously or manually:
- Autonomous flight to location: Click the map and select Go Here. You can alter the path the drone takes to the location by adding points to the line with the icons along the flight path.
A magenta border and indicator along the bottom left of the flight display lets the RO know that they have control of the drone in autonomous flight mode.
When the autonomous action is complete, DSR switches the RO to manual flight. The RO can then fly manually or continue to click the map to choose new locations to fly to autonomously. - Manual flight using PS5 controller: You also can fly manually using the controller.
A blue border and indicator along the bottom left of the flight display lets the RO know that they have manual control of the drone.
- Autonomous flight to location: Click the map and select Go Here. You can alter the path the drone takes to the location by adding points to the line with the icons along the flight path.
- RO returns to home: Click Return Home at the bottom of the flight display.
- Upon completion of the flight, click End Flight in the dialog that appears.
