DroneSense supports several flight planning patterns that are highly effective in search-related tasks. These patterns consist of Line Search, Parallel Search, and Sector Search types.
Each pattern is designed to optimize sensor coverage to ensure be best results. They are are configured to follow terrain and capture photos, the latter of which can be disabled as needed.
Line Search Patterns
Line search patterns allow you build out a string of waypoints for the drone to traverse at a consistent height above terrain. You can choose from two types: single- or dual-pass.
Single-pass line searches follow alongside the waypoint path and then return. |
Dual-pass line searches follow the waypoint path and back twice, finishing at the initial waypoint. |
Parallel Search Patterns
Parallel searches are similar to Surveys, in that they pass in a specified area in multiple passes, either in two directions or in a grid. Like Line search patterns, parallel searches follow the terrain to maintain a consistent elevation above ground level.
Parallel search 1 does a single pass with minimal overlap. |
Parallel search 2 is similar, but in narrower channels to enhance overlap. |
Parallel search 4 adds a cross path, similar to a 3D survey. |
Sector Search Pattern
The most complex pattern is the sector search:
This pattern is designed to provide the most coverage at a wide range of angles to see through and around any obstructions.
