Managing DroneSense Remote Firmware

DroneSense is designed so that organizations can proactively monitor the status of their hardware. One of the key elements of this is firmware.

When managing a drone program, it is crucial to keep in mind that the drone manufacturer is responsible for managing and maintaining their hardware and related software.

There can be occasions when a drone or dock manufacturer's firmware update causes issues with your specific hardware or interferes with the operation of DroneSense software.

NOTE: We generally recommend that users be cautious when performing firmware updates and always perform test flights before flying a mission on new hardware or immediately after a firmware update. DroneSense App Versions are tested against the latest Firmware published at the time of release. If a firmware is released after the DroneSense App Version is released, it may cause issues or interfere with the DroneSense Software. 

Updating Firmware

Prior to Updating Firmware for DroneSense Remote Docks and Aircraft, please contact DroneSense to ensure the Firmware Version is currently supported via DroneSense Remote. 

For most users, open the assistant app for your device to update your firmware. The software will scan your device and verify the firmware. For more information, refer to the manufacturer's documentation for your device.

NOTE: Be sure to check with your local administrator if your organization follows a different update process.

Battery, Sensor, and Other Device Updates

When updating a drone or dock, the manufacturer's assistant app will check the firmware for any other devices or batteries connected to the drone. Any required updates will be prompted to the user and will be completed after the drone updates.
