DJI Phantom 3 (4K)
DJI announced in 2022 that they will no longer provide maintenance or technical support for the Phantom 3 line of drones and accessories. The Phantom 3 drone was first introduced in April of 2015.
As a result, DroneSense is announcing its End of Support (EoS) for the DJI Phantom 3 drone in the DroneSense mobile apps.
With the End of Support (EoS), DroneSense will no longer develop new software features for the Phantom 3, test backward compatibility of new software features, or provide technical support for this drone model.
DroneSense customers may continue to fly the Phantom 3 in DroneSense iOS and Android apps until June 30th of 2023 and may choose to manually manage Phantom 3 aircraft, along with any other unsupported device, in the web app.

DJI Crystal Sky Monitor [effectively End of Life]
[update 8/28/2024: CrystalSky monitors no longer work with the DroneSense platform due to an expired software license, which prevents DroneSense from connecting to these legacy devices.]
DJI’s CrystalSky monitor was first introduced in 2017 and the 32-bit devices use a version of the Android 5 (“Lollipop”) Operating System (OS) which is no longer supported by Google.
While inventory of the CrystalSky monitor still exists and DJI has not officially announced its End-of-Life, the drone manufacturer has not provided any firmware updates for the device since 2018.
Due to the limitations of the CrystalSky architecture and lack of appropriate OS updates, DroneSense is announcing its End of Support (EoS) for the DJI CrystalSky monitor for the DroneSense mobile apps.
DroneSense recommends using more current versions of the Android mobile OS for mobile device security and data protection.
With the End of Support (EoS), DroneSense will no longer test backwards compatibility of its mobile apps and new software features, or provide technical support for the mobile apps on this device and version of Android.
DroneSense customers may continue to use CrystalSky monitors with the current version of the mobile apps until June 30th, 2023, after which time CrystalSky monitors will no longer be officially supported.
Existing customers can continue to manage their CrystalSky monitors already associated with their agency and all existing records in the web app.
DroneSense recommends that customers consider alternatives and reach out to us for guidance.
