Complete the steps in this article to install to v1.8.2.7 of the Autel Evo Max firmware for use with the DroneSense / Axon Air powered by DroneSense Android app.
CAUTION: This process is not optimal for field operations. The amount of time this takes could be considerable - allow for 15 - 30 minutes.
To ensure this process completes successfully, be sure to follow the instructions exactly.
1. Update EVO Max Aircraft Firmware
- Download the files to your computer and transfer the files to an SD card:
- Power on the aircraft and wait 30 seconds until the LED indicator stops flashing in three alternating colors.
- Insert the microSD card into the aircraft from the back.
- The aircraft LED will flash rapidly, indicating the update is in progress. After three minutes, check the update status:
- If the update is still ongoing, the aircraft's LED will flash rapidly in green and blue.
- If the update failed, a slow flashing red light will appear for more than a minute. If this occurs, contact DroneSense Support.
- Once the LED indicator remains solid, the update is successfully completed.
- Power cycle the aircraft.
Important: If you are updating multiple drones, you will need to load the software onto the microSD again before updating the next drone.
2. Update the EVO Max Remote Controller
- On the RC Controller, download the two controller update files for your brand of controller from the links below to your computer and transfer the files to a USB / Thumb Drive.

- The next step will depend on the firmware version currently installed.
For RC firmware below V1.8:- Open the Enterprise app and insert the USB / Thumb Drive drive into the RC.
- A prompt will appear indicating New firmware detected. Tap Confirm to proceed with the update.
- Insert the USB drive into the RC. The update will begin automatically with the LED indicator flashing. No need to open the app; ignore any app instructions if it is opened.
- When the LED indicator remains solid, the firmware update is finished.
- Power cycle the RC and verify the firmware version.
Important: If updating multiple controllers, you will need to load the software onto the USB drive again before updating the next controller.
3. Clear your Cache
After you complete updating the controller firmware, you must clear the cache.
- Go to the Settings app on the controller.
- Navigate to App and Notifications > Autel Enterprise > Storage and Cache.
