Installing the DroneSense Mobile App

How you download and install the DroneSense mobile application depends on whether you're using an iOS/iPadOS or Android (Smart Controller, Enterprise Smart Controller, or consumer Android phone or tablet) device.

iOS/iPadOS

For iOS/iPadOS devices (iPad and iPhone), click on the DroneSense icon below or open the App Store and search for DroneSense and install as you would any other App Store application.

Android

Installing on Android Phones or Tablets

The DroneSense mobile app is available on the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets. Devices used for Mobile Streaming and Tracking (MSAT) will need to use this version.

  1. Follow this link or use the steps below:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dronesense.pilot 
  2. Open the Google Play Store on your device.
  3. Search for DroneSense.
  4. Install the app on your phone or tablet.

NOTE: DJI CrystalSky and DJI Smart Controller devices cannot access the Google Play Store. Follow the instructions in the sections below to install DroneSense on these devices.

Installing on Smart Controller over WiFi:

  1. Open Google Chrome (or other available browser application) on the device.
  2. Navigate to the following page to download the file:
    https://ds-public-www.s3.amazonaws.com/Dronesense-Android.apk or https://ds-public-www.s3.amazonaws.com/Dronesense-Android-M30.apk if you are installing for a DJI M30/M30T/M3E, or M3T Controller
  3. Tap Download. If you have trouble downloading over WiFi, please follow the instructions in the SD Card section below. You may receive a warning about being unable to scan for viruses. Tap Accept this for this release.
    On the Smart Controller, the download icon in the top corner will stop pulsing when the download is complete. Check your Downloads folder to see that it completed.
  4. Open the Downloads folder on the device (Explorer > Internal Memory > Download).
  5. Tap the corresponding DroneSense-Android APK file and then tap Install. After completion, the DroneSense mobile app should now display under Applications and is ready to fly!

Installing on Smart Controller Using an SD Card:

  1. Use a laptop or desktop computer to download the file:
    https://ds-public-www.s3.amazonaws.com/Dronesense-Android.apk or https://ds-public-www.s3.amazonaws.com/Dronesense-Android-M30.apk if you are installing for a DJI M30/M30T/M3E, or M3T Controller
  2. Copy the file from your computer to an SD Card.
  3. Insert the SD card into the Smart Controller.
  4. Open the Device Explorer, tap the SD card to open files.
  5. Tap the corresponding DroneSense-Android APK file and then tap Install. After completion, the DroneSense mobile app should now display under Applications and is ready to fly!

Supported Android Devices

We currently provide support for the following Android devices:

  • DJI Smart Controller
  • DJI Smart Controller Enterprise
  • Autel Smart Controller*
    * Requires DroneSense version 2022.6.1 or later and Autel Explorer 1.0.84 for Smart Controller or later

However, DroneSense Mobile for Android will work on many Android phones and tablets. Newer, more rugged or robust devices should perform well, though official support may be limited for the time being.

Our focus is to provide the best pilot experience on these UAV-specific devices, but in the future, we will add support for additional devices.
